R&B singer Akon is set to oversee Michael Jackson's comeback album, after hinting he has signed the King Of Pop to his own record label.

Jackson enlisted the talents of the Smack That hitmaker to produce his forthcoming comeback album, and now Akon has suggested the project is to be released under his own imprint, Konvict Music.

He tells MTV.com, "When (Jackson's) record comes out, read the label." Meanwhile, Jackson has repaid the favor by lending his vocals to Akon's new track, entitled Hold My Hand, which will be featured on the star's forthcoming album Acquitted.

CHICAGO (AP) - Barack Obama's presidential campaign says a new rhyme by supporter and rapper Ludacris is "outrageously offensive" to Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton, Republican Sen. John McCain and President Bush.

The song brags about an Obama presidency being destiny. It uses an expletive to describe Clinton, calls Bush "mentally handicapped" and says McCain doesn't belong in "any chair unless he's paralyzed."

The lyrics don't spare the Rev. Jesse Jackson, who recently apologized for making crude comments about Obama. "If you said it then you meant it," intones the rapper.

Obama's campaign blasted "Politics as Usual," which is on the "Gangsta Grillz: The Preview" mixtape with Atlanta spinner DJ Drama.

"As Barack Obama has said many, many times in the past, rap lyrics today too often perpetuate misogyny, materialism, and degrading images that he doesn't want his daughters or any children exposed to," campaign spokesman Bill Burton said in an e-mail statement Wednesday. "This song is not only outrageously offensive to Sen. Clinton, Rev. Jackson, Sen. McCain and President Bush, it is offensive to all of us who are trying to raise our children with the values we hold dear. While Ludacris is a talented individual he should be ashamed of these lyrics."

Ludacris' publicist and manager did not immediately return calls Wednesday for comment.

The home belonging to Kanye West's late mother is facing foreclosure. Dr Donda West died in November from complications following a cosmetic surgery procedure, and the Stronger hitmaker has since been handed control of her estate.

But the rapper has so far failed to pay the $600,000 needed to settle the mortgage on Dr. West's Illinois condominium, it is claimed.

And now court documents from Northern Trust Bank show the property will be sold to recoup the debt unless the money is paid off, according to celebrity bloggers.

West inherited a reported $250,000-worth of assets as part of his mother's estate.

Jordin Sparks confessed to having a crush on Chris Brown but couldn't pursue the star after she learned he was dating Rihanna.
The American Idol singer collaborated with Brown for her No Air single and wanted to be more than just friends but was dissapointed when he fell for Rihanna.
She says, “Chris is so hot. I had a crush on him for a couple of years and, well, I still do.“Rihanna came to the video shoot. I didn't know they were dating - they were doing the 'just good friends' thing in the media - and I thought 'Oooh, maybe I have a chance'. But it's not to be. They are a sweet couple. I wish them all the best.”

Keith Sweat and Ludacris will join the late Dotti Rambo and Widespread Panic this fall when they will be inducted into Georgia’s Music Hall of Fame.

Keith Sweat, who released one of this year’s top independent albums titled “Just Me” will be inducted into the state’s hall of fame located in Macon, Georgia, this after over 30 years of both performing and producing some of the best in R&B and New Jack Swing.

Ludacris, who is slated to appear in Max Payne alongside Mark Wahlberg this fall, will be honored during the festivities, joining fellow Atlanta music mogul Jermaine Dupri who was honored in 2006.

The 30th annual ceremony and awards show will be held September 20th at the Georgia World Congress Center. WSB-TV news anchor Monica Pearson and onetime, longtime Atlanta radio personality Leslie Fram will return as co-hosts.

Usher, Dallas Austin, Curtis Mayfield and TLC are among those who have been inducted into the Georgia Music Hall of Fame in recent years.

It took a few years and a few million Internet hits, but Soulja Boy is living his dream. He's a platinum artist with an international hit record. And while the world is just getting over its "Crank That" hangover, the Atlanta native is back in the lab with plans to release his follow-up LP and a song on par with "Superman dat ohhhh!"

"I worked with Polow [Da Don] on this album," SB said of his sophomore album. "He did the first single. I remember last year, [when I was] touring, 'Crank That' would be on the radio every five minutes. I was like, 'Man!' This is exactly what this album is gonna do: straight takeover! I did production on this one. I accepted a lot of beats from underground cats on this album. I just shoot my e-mail out on the hip sites. I play off by ear, not off who's doing it. I like music."

Soulja said he wasn't going to reveal the title of the first single yet because of biters, but he did say that the song will not debut on radio. The unveiling of its video will be the first time we hear it. The album is called iSouljaBoy, and it's an ode to today's technology, like iTunes. What did you expect?

Fox News anchorman, the crazed Mr. Bill O'Reilly has taken aim at Nas over the rapper's protest outside the TV network's headquarters in New York last week.

Nas joined human rights activists to deliver a 600,000-name petition calling for network executives to end their "pattern of racist attacks against Black Americans."

But O'Reilly insists the protest was nothing more than a publicity stunt to boost sales of the rap star's number one album, Untitled.

Calling Nas a "vile rapper", the conservative host claims Nas' new album is "a bomb, a disaster, a catastrophe," and the "I Can" hitmaker needed to do something to bring attention to his release.

No Disney didn't! Disney Records drop Raven Symone from their label.

Raven signed a two album deal in 2004. Her first album was titled "This Is My Time", which fell way short of going gold at 237,000 copies sold in the U.S.. She release her second album April 2008 and sold under 10,000 copies so far. She even had super producer Timbaland and Sean Garrett on her latest album.

I guess times are hard even for Disney Records.

Here is a lil' snippet of Rick Ross new denial (Power 98.3 Interview):
“In the game we in, it’s real competitive. Competitors have to do what they have to do to eat. We making the best music. Y’all seen the BET Awards, y’all saw the magazine. We the biggest in the game, we the best in the game. Just keeping it real. And anytime somebody can attack my character, like I said, you get nothing from the Boss. I don’t give haters the pleasure.“

“When you get to my level, you’re a great conversation piece. I’m big on the blogs, I’m big on the magazines, and I appreciate that as an artist. That’s why I’m in the game. I got in this game to introduce people and to make great music. And that’s what it’s about.”

“Just keep the rumors coming. We gon’ keep the records coming, we gon’ keep the music coming. Like I said, I’m one of the realest sources of this real street music in this game. Straight out of Miami, straight out of M-I-Yayo. One of my closest homies was on America’s Most Wanted.”

Hip-hop mogul Jay-Z hates hearing how his rap contemporaries "keep it hood", because he's convinced no one would voluntarily return to their poverty-stricken past in the streets.

The Big Pimpin' hitmaker, real name Shawn Carter, is often criticized himself for living the high life and failing to keep in touch with his roots - the deprived Bedford-Stuyvesant district of Brooklyn, New York.

But he is unfazed by the remarks, because he is adamant no rap star would give up the luxuries fame has afforded them to go back to living in the ghetto.

He says, "I think it's more important for me to be in touch with who I am than in touch with the streets, per se. Being in touch with the streets, keeping it real, that's become a lie and a cliche.

"I'm not hanging on the corner in the Bed-Stuy. I hate it when rappers say, 'I'm keeping it hood.' I'm like, 'Why? What do you mean? No one's there by choice! You're in the hood, by choice?!'"

JULY 28--We don't mean to pile on the beleaguered gangster rapper (and former prison guard) Rick Ross, but a Freedom of Information request has turned up additional documents chronicling the performer's penal career. As we previously reported, despite vehement denials from Ross (real name: William Leonard Roberts), Florida Department of Corrections (DoC) records show that the 32-year-old hip-hop star worked as a correctional officer for 18 months, until he resigned his $25,794.34 post in June 1997.

In response to a TSG request, DoC officials released Ross's 86-page personnel file, excerpts of which you'll find on the following pages. The documents include Ross's employment application (below), which notes that he was a 1994 graduate of Miami's Carol City Senior High School and spent a year at Georgia's Albany State College, where he studied Criminal Justice. On a personal history form, he identifies Tommie Ann Roberts as his mother and Tawanda Roberts as his sister. Both women are prominently thanked in the liner notes to Ross's 2008 album "Trilla." Additionally, according to Florida Secretary of State records, Tommie and Tawanda serve as officers of Rick Ross Charities, a not-for-profit whose current address is identical to the one Ross himself provided on his DoC employment records.

Other personnel records include a fingerprint card that was used during a criminal background check, and the resulting report showing that Ross was clean. In a supplemental application, Ross agreed to perform a wide ranger of correctional officer duties, including "shoot an inmate attempting to escape." He also signed a loyalty oath, listed Tawanda as his life insurance beneficiary, and received a certificate marking his completion of 540 hours of training. Ross's letter of appointment, payroll information, and "Certificate of Appreciation" for perfect attendance were also included in the DoC documents. The file also contains copies of Ross's Mississippi birth certificate, his Social Security card, and the former screw's June 1997 resignation letter, which offers the DoC thanks for "your interest in my career and for the experience I've gained through my employment.

Ray J and Whitney Houston

Ray J and Whitney spotted in L.A. doing what they do.

NBA Baller Kenyon Martin and Rap Diva Trina was recently in a car accident. Nobody got hurt or anything, but you're wondering why was Trina in Kenyon's truck. Well the two have been dating lately and time will only tell for these two.

Rapper The Game has denied attacking his pal Eminem in a new track leaked online - insisting his lyrics have been misinterpreted. The single My Life, from his forthcoming L.A.X. album, is a collaboration with Lil Wayne.

He was rumored to be referring to Eminem and his 2002 movie 8 Mile, in the line: "All the pictures of me and Em, I burned them / So there ain't no proof I walked through 8 Mile."

But the Dreams hitmaker is adamant that the song is not a slur on Eminem - insisting it is about his relationship with late D12 rapper Proof, who was shot dead in his native Detroit, Michigan in April 2006.

The Game tells AllHipHop.com, "When I originally wrote the song My Life, I was trying to think back on events that affected my life and how they changed me. I remember when Proof died vividly and now every time I think about going to Detroit I get depressed.

"That is what I was trying to say in that verse and the more I looked at it I
realized that people would take it the wrong way…the way they are taking it now that it leaked."

The Game has now changed the song - scrapping the controversial lyrics - and apologized for any offense his words may have caused.

Referring to the leaked tune, he adds, "This is not the version on my album, this is not the version that radio will get. Furthermore, I apologize to anyone who took this the wrong way as that was never my intention."

After weeks of speculation, Trick Daddy has responded to the insinuations that he is responsible for the leaked photos depicting fellow Miami rapper Rick Ross as a correctional officer.

Prompted by accusations made earlier this week, the “Mayor of Miami” decried the release of the photos and his association to the incident as an attempt to create division within his city’s thriving Hip-Hop community.

“We don’t deal with rap beef down here,” Trick told AllHipHop.com. “That’s not in our character. That’s not something we do. We’re the only city that ever gets compared to other people’s entire states. Whoever put my name in this is really attacking all of us.”

During a recent interview with Rick Ross circulating on the internet, an interviewer inquired about an alleged rift between the former Slip-n-Slide label mates.

During the clip, Ross is “informed” by the interviewer that “Trick Daddy accused [him] of working as a prison guard at one point.“

Despite having seen Ross’s heated response to the question, Trick maintains that there is no bad blood between the frequent collaborators, who spoke as recently as this week.

“I told Ross he needs to have better people around him,” Trick Daddy told AllHipHop.com. “He needs better publicists, so that he can avoid even being asked those type of funny questions. I been in this game for thirteen years, and anybody who’s ever listened to my music knows Trick Daddy is very smart. I know when somebody’s trying to use me and pull me into some s**t. But the people doing this need to understand what their words can do too. When you start talking about beef, and creating [situations] between people from the same hood, you gotta realize that that beef s**t can end with one man in jail and another man gone.”

The topic of Rick Ross’s past career has drawn responses from everyone from rappers Fabolous, Maino and The Clipse, to the real “Freeway” Ricky Ross, with many wondering what effect his denial would have on his career.

While Trick would not directly confirm any knowledge of the Def Jam rapper’s employment as a law enforcement officer, he did address the controversy.

“So what if he [was],” Trick asked. “That just means he avoided something a lot of us in the hood haven’t, including me. I’m not proud of being an ex-con. Now that means I always got one foot in and one foot on a banana peel. I’m not proud of the things I did to land in that position.”

Uncle Luke Tied The Knot

Thursday, July 24, 2008 | | 0 comments »

Luke Campbell, former frontman of 2 Live Crew, heard wedding bells on Saturday as he and Kristin Thompson tied the knot in Dallas, Texas.

“I waited 47 years to find a special woman and have found that in Kristin. I never knew that I could feel love on another level like this until I met her, and I am now honored to call her my wife.”

Doug E. Fresh deejayed and performed, keeping guests, including Arizona Cardinal Edgerrin James, on the dance floor until the early morning. Soul singer Betty Wright serenaded the happy couple. Their first dance was to Brian McKnight’s “Back At One.”

Campbell and Thompson met at Jerry’s Deli in Miami Beach two years ago. He proposed to her on Halloween last year. This is the first marriage for both. Campbell has two children from a previous relationship.

50 Cent is not enthused with Taco Bell’s recent advertising campaign which asked the rapper to call himself 99 cent for the day. According to recent reports 50 is not laughing and is now asking the fast food giant for $4 million in damages.

In a federal lawsuit filed Wednesday, 50 Cent says the Mexican-themed chain features him in a print ad without permission, asking him to change his name to 79 cent, 89 cent or 99 cent.

The rapper's court papers say the ad is part of Taco Bell's "Why Pay More?" campaign, which promotes items for under a dollar, including Cinnamon Twists for 79 cents, Crunchy Tacos for 89 cents and Bean Burritos for 99 cents. The papers say the Irvine, Calif.-based company sent a bogus letter requesting the name change to the news media but not to the rapper.

The rapper's lawyer, Peter D. Raymond, said his client didn't learn about the letter or that he was featured in the ad campaign until he saw a news report about it.

Taco Bell Corp. spokesman Rob Poetsch issued a statement saying: "We made a good faith, charitable offer to 50 Cent to change his name to either 79, 89 or 99 Cent for one day by rapping his order at a Taco Bell, and we would have been very pleased to make the $10,000 donation to the charity of his choice."

Mariah Carey Has Spoken

Thursday, July 24, 2008 | | 0 comments »

Mariah Carey has spoken out to nullify ongoing rumors of trouble in her marriage to Nick Cannon, declaring "life is beautiful".

The couple wed in the Bahamas in April after a whirlwind romance, but rumors of a rocky relationship began to surface earlier this month. Rapper/actor Cannon has already dismissed the claims, declaring that marriage is "the best thing that ever happened to me".

And now the Hero hit-maker has moved to put an end to the gossip, urging doubters to join the couple and "celebrate" their nuptials. She tells MTV.com, "(When I hear that) things are rocky and hazy and messed up... I'm like, 'Why would we have gotten married to do that?"

"People are going to say what they say, but what would be the purpose? I guess other people do those things for a purpose, but I don't know. I'm ecstatic, so be ecstatic with me! Be happy with me. Can we celebrate?"

IN STORES NOW!!!

Time Magazine named Lil Wayne "The Best Rapper Alive".

In a Time Magazine story they said: "Lil Wayne has a smoke-scarred rasp that makes him sound like Redd Foxx covering Bob Dylan. It's hardly the voice you'd expect from a 25-year-old rap star, but then, it's been a busy 25 years. Over four years, he morphed from a mediocre rapper with a thuggish point of view into a savant who merges sex, drugs and politics with a sneaky intellect, a freakish knowledge of pop culture and a voice out of the Delta. Whether Wayne is, as he claims, the "Best Rapper Alive" is no longer even debated in hip-hop or commercial circles. Since June 10, when his latest album, Tha Carter III, sold 1,005,545 copies in its first week, he's been the undisputed champ."

Maybe it's true ya'll. Tell me who you think is better?

Ashanti Has A New Job

Wednesday, July 23, 2008 | | 0 comments »

NEW YORK (AP) - Grammy-winning singer and Long Island native Ashanti has a new gig: tourism ambassador. The R&B singer was introduced Tuesday at a news conference as one of nine ambassadors who will promote tourism in Nassau County on Long Island.

County Executive Thomas Suozzi placed an orange blazer with a tourism patch over her white dress at the event at Rockefeller Center in Manhattan, where 16 tourists were offered an all-expenses-paid tour of Nassau. Ashanti sang at Suozzi's two mayoral inaugurals in her native Glen Cove.

Ashanti says it's "amazing" to be asked to "give something back to the community." The singer recently released her fourth studio album, "The Declaration."

The tourism campaign pitches Nassau as "The Island Next Door" and is targeted at visitors to the city.

Ne-Yo is not playing with Britney Spears or her management! According to a recent interview the singer says Spears has a long way to go before he holds songs for her!

According to the UK’s Guardian, Ne-Yo says he doesn’t care about Britney Spears’ feelings being hurt when she heard about him giving songs he penned for her to Nicole Scherzinger.

“I heard that she was upset with me, and you know, I don't care,” says the Ne-Yo who had written six to eight songs for the pop singers album due later this year. According to Ne-Yo, the singer’s management never returned his calls, never paid him, and Spears even missed multiple sessions where she was to show up and provide input on the songs.

According to Ne-Yo, "We set up multiple sessions where she was supposed to actually come in and give her input on the songs, but she never showed up. OK, she's goin' through some things - whatever, fine. This was before the whole shaving of the head thing, but after that happened, her people stopped returnin' phone calls.”

After meeting up with Nicole Scherzinger of the Pussycat Dolls Ne-Yo gave some of the songs away prompting Spears’ management to take action against the songwriter who they had not paid and ignored. Hey! What's goin' on? Why're you givin' away Britney's music?' I'm like, 'Wait, wait-wait-wait-wait-wait! Until y'all cut me a cheque, I'm givin' away my music. It may have been written with Britney in mind, but it's not hers” he says.

“My door swings both ways. Whitney and Michael - those are artists you wait on,” he continues. But Britney? Nah, not yet. You got a little workin' to do before you get to where I sit on a song for you. Sorry."
